We tend to think of our engagement with landscapes in visual terms – you ‘look’ at a view or a landscape. I like this shift from looking to listening. Ideally both at the same time.
Some time in the next week or month, feel free to spend a few minutes listening to this or that landscape, and if you care to share what you hear, get in touch.
From the book that inspired this website; see the bestellar review of Arctic Dreams, complete with a rich mosaic of illustrated wise quotations and metaphors.
‘A man in Anaktuvuk Pass, in response to a question about what he did when he visited a new place, said to me, “I listen.” That’s all.’
